3GPP Awards – Role of Honour
The 3GPP Awards recognise an individuals’ contribution to 3GPP. The Excellence Awards are decided at the end of every year, when nominations from the Working Group Chairs are considered.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards are given by the Project Coordination Group, on an exceptional basis.
Excellence Award
The 3GPP Excellence Award recognises an individuals’ contribution to a 3GPP Working Group during the year. Nominations are submitted by the WG Chairs – for consideration at the December TSG Plenary meetings. As soon as the 3GPP TSG leadership have deliberated and decided on a maximum of four awards for the year; the traditional clay totems are manufactured and sent to the Working Group Chair, for their presentation during the next WG meeting..

3GPP Lifetime Achievement Award (Created 2017)
The 3GPP Lifetime Achievement Award recognises an individuals’ contribution to the work of 3GPP over a period of time. The Award gives credit for consistent, profound and enduring contributions of outstanding significance to the work of 3GPP and its committees over a number of years.
